Looking back, I’ve known eLan for about 5 years now. I first met him in college when he was going to UCSD and roomed with my best friend. Since then we’ve been able to collaborated somewhat as he’s provided great soundtracks for this and that.
I have always been a fan of his music and watched his progression from hip-hop beat maker to whatever futuristic category you’d place his work in today. I went to his very first live performance in nearby Eagle Rock and this month I got witness yet another musical career first as he releases his first official EP “Bleep Bloop Brrrrmmp” on Modeselektor’s Monkeytown label. I got it in the mail, straight from Berlin, this past Saturday.
This is the first of three to come out this year so make sure to get in on it now and keep the flow going. Everyone likes to see good things happen to hard working, down to earth people and, on a more personal note, I look up to anyone who’s successful at doing what they love. Awwwwwwwyeahhhh!

OFFF Barcelona 2011
I’ve finally fully recovered from my vacation to Barcelona with Drew and Kane. One of the first things we did when we arrived was attend OFFF, a new media conference featuring quite the roster of speakers spanning the design industry. But to be honest, the event was a little oversold and crowded. It was hard for us to actually see any of the speakers and we couldn’t help but think that streaming the video from the comforts of our rented apartment would’ve been just as nice.
The actual artwork being shown as part of the OFFFMatica gallery was quite frankly pretty lackluster. Really dated new media “see me now” type of work- you know, the stuff all our professors in art school warned us about. Still, we managed to catch some inspiring presentations and the Stefan Sagmeister talk on happiness was worth the price of admission alone. Check out the main titles by PostPanic posted below. You gotta respect the amount of detail and time that went into this one!
