2nd and 3rd

For this quarter’s grad studio with Christian Moeller, we were assigned a project that had to be created in an 8 hour day. I cheated a bit and split it between two days since I needed the night shot, but alas I still didn’t work on it long.

eLan supplied the great track without having seen the video. I sent him a couple of screenshots while I was still editing and I got this in return. Adding music was a tough decision as I didn’t want it to become too distracting nor did I really plan on making a music video. I think the final product works well and the music is key to setting the pace of the piece.

Paperfashion X Jimmy Chorng

A friend and former CMU classmate, Katie has a great blog called PAPERFASHION which exhibits her extensive collection of fashion based illustrations. She’s an extremely talented artist with a unique style that has people all over the world taking notice. As a gift to Jimmy, I asked if she could do an illustration of him and his never ending project CB350, Darcy. The picture came out amazing and Jimmy was super stoked upon receiving it.

Go check out her work or better yet, go buy some of her art from Katie’s Etsy page!

Limes

Man, my walls are running out of room!

Ashley sold me one of her pieces from Philadelphia earlier this summer. I just it got it back from getting framed and I wanted to post some detail pics.

It’s a 9 color reductive serigraph. What that means- I have no idea. I just know it’s a trip and that I loved it at first sight. There’s great detail in the layering and the colors are perfect. One out of an edition of 10. So if you’re lucky, she might have some left ;]

Cut, Grind, Weld

I’m taking a welding course this semester and this was my first assignment. I chose to use round tubing while the theme “intersection” was assigned by our professor, Dee Briggs. I wanted to create the idea of intersection by creating lines on different planes that seem to interweave. I like the final piece though 2 weeks was a very short amount of time to really be 100% satisfied. It was my first time welding and working with metal so I’m just excited to get started on my next piece.

Paul is in the same class. I snapped a photo of his “30-60-90 triangle” themed piece. The picture doesn’t do it justice- you really need to walk around the sculpture to see how sick the angles and lines are. Definitely mine and a class favorite.
