Eyeo 2011

Earlier this week I had the opportunity to work at the Eyeo Festival in Minneapolis, MN. Along with a handful of fellow DMA students and faculty, I attended talks by the leading designers, programmers, and innovators about the future of digital culture and met some very exciting people (as well as my former CMU professor Golan Levin). It was without a doubt an elite cast of individuals and I felt privileged to be a part of it all. Till next year.

The Earth is on Fire!

I had the opportunity to assist on a shoot for the new YACHT music video. It was for two new tracks “Utopia/Dystopia” from their upcoming album. It was my first time on a professional set and quite frankly I had a blast. I met a ton of really cool people and learned a lot just from looking over people’s shoulders. At the end of the day, I just wanted to help because I’m such a huge fan of the band. I was able to catch them twice last year and look forward to seeing them this Friday at Coa-smella. They’re just a really smart pair with fun lyrics and great dance music.

Incomplete Manifesto for Growth

This winter quarter I TA for the undergraduate Typography class at UCLA. I’ve been able to pick up a few things peripherally and so was looking for a chance to practice. I created this simple poster for Bruce Mau’s Incomplete Manifesto for Growth, which I recently looked to for some inspiration for my own work. He makes quite a lot of points so I tried my best to create a grid system that was easy to read but not too linear as to prohibit your eyes to wander.

It’s in easy to print Tabloid (11 x 17) format so if you like it please feel free to download the pdf here and put it to use. I’m sure most of you will find it useful as a creative reference or starting off point if ever you’re stuck.

Love Hurts

We should celebrate our parents everyday, not just once a year. At least, that was the thinking behind me and Jimmy’s gift to our dad this Father’s Day. Of course, my mom probably gave the most considering how painful her first tattoo experience was. The fingers are one of the most sensitive spots! Ouch.
