Bobbito Garcia Lecture: Where’d You Get Those?

Bobbito Garcia Lecture: Where’d You Get Those?

Sneakerology, in conjunction with the Carnegie Mellon University Lecture Series, invited famed author and cultural icon Bobbito Garcia to speak to the campus community. Mr. Garcia discussed his nationally acclaimed book Where’d You Get Those?: New York City’s Sneaker Culture 1960-1987 and his roots in the early years of hip-hop and basketball.

The large audience included students, faculty, and local businessmen from the greater Pittsburgh area.

A Little About Bobbito

Bobbito Garcia’s career began almost two decades ago when he hosted The Stretch Armstrong and Bobbito Show. Since then, he’s made a name for himself by being one of hip-hop’s most prolific historians. In the past he’s collaborated with Adidas and Nike to produce several signature shoes. His most recent project with Pro-Keds was an attempt to reinvent the brand and use Bobbito’s expertise to market one of their most classic models, the Royal Flash.
